The Union Cupboard, led by PM Modi, accepted the second section of the Vibrant Villages Programme (VVP-II) with an outlay of Rs 6,839 crore.
The programme will run till FY 2028-29, protecting strategic villages in 18 states and UTs, excluding these on the India-China border.
Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav emphasised creating and securing border villages to stop migration and strategic dangers.
Section 1 lined 700 villages, whereas Section 2 aimed to succeed in 2,000 villages with important infrastructure and connectivity.
