Diesel Worth Hike Alert: The value of diesel in Karnataka is about to rise by Rs 2 per liter because the state authorities has elevated the gross sales tax on diesel to 21.17 per cent. The value hike comes into impact instantly. In line with a authorities notification issued on Tuesday, the Karnataka Gross sales Tax (KST) on diesel has been elevated from 18.44 per cent to 21.17 per cent.

“Within the mentioned notification, in opposition to Sl. No. (ii), for the phrases and figures “eighteen level 4 4 p.c (18.44%)”, the phrases and figures “twenty one level one seven p.c (21.17%)” shall be substituted,” the notification learn.

“After the approval of the Competent Authority, the Karnataka Gross sales Tax fee on diesel has been elevated to 21.17%, efficient from 01-04-2025. In the meantime, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has launched a brand new “rubbish cess,” making it obligatory for Bengaluru residents to pay a strong waste administration person price beginning Tuesday, April 1.

The BBMP has determined to extend door to door waste assortment and disposal costs, imposing a month-to-month ‘rubbish cess’ on varied properties.

Buildings starting from 1,000-2,000 sq ft of space, a month-to-month cess of Rs 100 shall be collected, whereas it has been mounted at Rs 150 per thirty days for buildings with 2,000 – 3,000 sq ft of space. 

For buildings from 3,000 sq ft to 4,000 sq ft of space, a month-to-month rubbish cess of Rs 200 shall be collected, whereas Rs 400 shall be collected per thirty days for buildings with above 4000 sq ft of space.

The rubbish cess shall be collected annnually together with property tax. The BBMP expects to generate round Rs 600 crore yearly via this initiative to spice up its income.

This transfer follows latest hikes in milk and electrical energy costs, including one other monetary burden on residents.

On March 27, the Karnataka authorities introduced a Rs 4 per liter improve within the worth of Nandini milk and curd, efficient April 1. This determination was taken throughout a Cupboard assembly chaired by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to help dairy farmers and account for rising milk manufacturing and processing prices.
