President Droupadi Murmu took a sortie in a Rafale fighter jet on Wednesday (October 29). She arrived at Air Pressure Station in Haryana’s Ambala on Wednesday morning to fly the fighter plane.
The Ministry of Data and Broadcasting shared a reside broadcast because the Rafale jet carrying Murmu took flight from the Ambala station.
‘The message is to empower girls…to encourage them within the discipline of defence and navy,” as per the commentary by the Ministry of Data and Broadcasting’s X social media deal with.
Air Chief Marshal A P Singh was amongst others current on the event.
President Murmu is the supreme commander of the Indian armed forces.
Rafale jets had been used throughout Operation Sindoor, launched by India in response to the April 22 dastardly Pahalgam terror assault.
An announcement issued by the Rashtrapati Bhavan on Tuesday mentioned, “The President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu, will go to Ambala, Haryana tomorrow the place she is going to take a sortie in Rafale.”
Murmu took sortie in Sukhoi-30 MKI
On April 8, 2023, Murmu grew to become the third President and second girl head of the state to take a sortie in Sukhoi-30 MKI fighter plane on the Tezpur Air Pressure Station, Assam.
Former presidents A P J Abdul Kalam and Pratibha Patil had undertaken sorties in Sukhoi-30 MKI fighter plane on the Air Pressure Station, Lohegaon close to Pune on June 8, 2006 and November 25, 2009, respectively.
About Rafale fighter plane
Manufactured by French aerospace main Dassault Aviation, Rafale fighter plane had been formally inducted into the Indian Air Pressure in September 2020 on the Air Pressure Station, Ambala.
The primary 5 Rafale plane, which had arrived from France on July 27, 2020, had been inducted in 17 Squadron, the ‘Golden Arrows’.
The Rafale jets had been utilized in Operation Sindoor, which was launched on Might 7 to destroy a number of terror infrastructures in territories managed by Pakistan. The strikes triggered 4 days of intense clashes that ended with an understanding on stopping the navy actions on Might 10.
