The Agricultural and Processed Meals Merchandise Export Improvement Authority (APEDA) on Thursday created historical past by flagging off the first-ever export consignment of recent black plum (Jamun fruit – Kundana selection) from Karnataka to London.
This initiative marks a major milestone in selling India’s conventional and region-specific fruits in worldwide markets. Till now, solely frozen Jamun had been exported from the nation.
In line with APEDA, the Jamun fruits—particularly the Kundana selection—have been sourced immediately from a Farmer Producer Organisation (FPO).
In the course of the digital flag-off, Abhishek Dev, Chairman of APEDA, was current together with officers from the Division of Horticulture, Mango Board, and the Regional Plant Quarantine Station.
In the course of the occasion, Dev praised Anantha Natural Merchandise for sourcing from FPOs and said that such initiatives immediately profit farmers. He reaffirmed APEDA’s dedication to supporting exporters and selling indigenous fruits like Jamun on international platforms.
The consignment was packed at a packhouse accepted by APEDA and the Plant Quarantine Authority, established by the Karnataka Authorities beneath the Division of Horticulture.
Beforehand, exports had been restricted to processed types comparable to pulp or seed powder.
