Delhi: Gold price ₹29 lakh was seized by the Customs Division at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi Worldwide Airport on Monday, January 6. The gold had been hid as metallic buttons, which have been discovered within the baggage of a male passenger.
The accused, who was travelling from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, was intercepted after his arrival on the Delhi Airport, the customs division said on X.
How was the passenger arrested
Though the passenger had gone undetected by way of the door body metallic detector, he was caught through the X-ray scanning of his baggage.

Gold smuggling at Mumbai Airport
On January 5, the Directorate of Income Intelligence (DRI) arrested 4 people, together with two airport employees members working at a duty-free store, for smuggling six kilograms of gold, price ₹4.84 crore at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Worldwide Airport.
