BERLIN (Reuters) – Germany met the NATO alliance’s goal to spend 2% of its gross home product on defence in 2024, finance ministry sources mentioned on Monday, and completed the 12 months with a reserve of 10.7 billion euros ($11.04 billion).
Germany beneath Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s authorities has ramped up army spending since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, each to provide weapons assist to Kyiv and revamp its personal armed forces. However it has grappled with budgetary constraints, clouding the prospect of future spending.
