No, the Centre has no plans to impose a toll tax on two-wheelers, clarified Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and the Nationwide Highways Authority of India (NHAI) on Thursday.
This comes after some media reviews reported that the federal government was planning to levy consumer charges on two-wheelers.
In a strong-worded tweet in Hindi, Gadkari condemned media homes for “spreading deceptive information” with out verifying details and stated it’s “not an indication of wholesome journalism”.
“The exemption on toll for two-wheeler automobiles will proceed totally,” he stated.
“Some media homes are spreading deceptive information about imposing toll tax on two-wheeler automobiles. No such choice has been proposed,” Gakdari’s tweet learn.
“Spreading deceptive information with out verifying the reality to create a sensation will not be an indication of wholesome journalism. I condemn this,” it added.
In a fact-check submit, the NHAI additionally stated that it was faux information and no such proposal was into consideration.
“Some sections of the media have reported that the Authorities of India plans to levy consumer charges on two-wheelers. NHAI wish to make clear that no such proposal is into consideration.
