The Trump administration on Thursday blocked the flexibility of Harvard College to enroll future worldwide college students and to retain its present enrolled overseas college students.
Division of Homeland Safety Secretary Kristi Noem ordered DHS employees to revoke Harvard’s Student and Trade Customer Program certification, which permits schools to enroll overseas college students.
Noem, in an announcement, stated, “Let this function a warning to all universities and educational establishments throughout the nation.”
DHS stated that along with barring enrollment of future worldwide college students, “present overseas college students should switch or lose their authorized standing.” The revocation, which DHS stated was the results of “pro-terrorist conduct,” was first reported by The New York Instances.
As of the autumn 2023 semester, Worldwide college students comprised greater than 27% of Harvard’s complete enrollment, in line with college knowledge.
